Ruthie really is the matriarch of the house. She was a wonderful mom and is a terrific grandma (and great-great grandma), but she does rule the roost! She is the one who started it all for me. She is my first Boston and I love her dearly. She is the most intelligent, obedient, sweet girl there is. She is a terrific therapy dog that visits our local assisted living community and everyone just adores her. She has produced my beautiful Belle, as well as my first bred by exhibitor champion, Taison. She is now “retired” and teaches all the others the “way of the world” in our home. She also helps train the new puppies when they are old enough to start wandering around the house.

My sweet Ruthie, like me, is aging and getting grayer by the day, but she still runs, plays, and loves like she’s a young pup. One of the things I love so much about Ruthie is that she actually SMILES when she is happy or in a playful mood. She truly is young at heart and still goes on hikes with us and is even featured in  two hiking books written by my sister-in-law, Debbi Preston. Ruthie has her own little pink backpack and loves hiking with her “cousin” Tootie when she goes hiking.

As I mentioned, Ruthie is my first Boston Terrier and I cannot describe how wonderful and entertaining she is or how much I love her. She is the epitome of being a companion dog and inspired the love for the breed that I now have. I will always be indebted to her for the constant joy, peace, and laughter she provides me on a daily basis.
